For over 18 years, Talia's Steakhouse and Bar, the premier Glatt Kosher restaurant located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, NYC, has been offering pre-paid, prix fixe, Glatt Kosher Rosh Hashanah lunch and dinner menu options – all inclusive. This year, all Rosh Hashanah meals will be served outdoors. In the event of inclement weather, the dinner will be canceled. In addition to serving Rosh Hashanah meals, Talia's will become a small, informal house of prayer. Talia's designates a special outdoor section space for its attendees to conduct live services and daven Mincha and Maariv during the first and the second night of Rosh Hashanah. This minyan is organized by Rabbi Naftali Citron of Carlebach Shul and all prayers will be led by the renown Chazan Yehuda Green. Orthodox Jews do not use electronics on Shabbat or holidays, leaving live streamed options such as Zoom off the table.

When was asked why in this year's Rosh Hashanah dinner at Talia's is different from all other years, the owner's son, Benjamin Nagar, relied: "Talia's has been blessed to have the opportunity to fulfill the well known saying of the Old Rebbe: "G‑d gives Gashmius (physical pleasures) and Ruchnius (spiritual pleasures) to Jews, and Jews turn the Gashmius into Ruchnius". We are so excited to have this opportunity of elevating and transforming the physical into spiritual. Davening outdoors on Amsterdam Avenue will be a real kiddush shem shamayim barabim and we are so looking forward to praying together b'achdut but with masks and with six feet social distancing."

Ordinarily, the festival of Rosh Hashanah is a traditional time for enjoying a meal out with the family. But as nobody needs reminding, this is no ordinary time. So while the reputation of Talia's Steakhouse remains second to none, its ambiance has changed for now, in keeping with the "new normal". This year, due to the pandemic, and in accordance with new guidelines from New York State and City, Talia's will be serving all meals al fresco during the holidays. Talia's beautiful outdoor café will be open from 4pm to 11pm. To preserve the spiritual experience of the holiday, no money will be exchanged.
