text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: "Open Sans", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: start;">For over 18 years, Talia's Steakhouse and Bar, the premier Glatt Kosher restaurant located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, NYC, has been offering pre-paid, prix fixe, Glatt Kosher Rosh Hashanah lunch and dinner menu options – all inclusive. This year, all Rosh Hashanah meals will be served outdoors. In the event of inclement weather, the dinner will be canceled. In addition to serving Rosh Hashanah meals, Talia's will become a small, informal house of prayer. Talia's designates a special outdoor section space for its attendees to conduct live services and daven Mincha and Maariv during the first and the second night of Rosh Hashanah. This minyan is organized by Rabbi Naftali Citron of Carlebach Shul and all prayers will be led by the renown Chazan Yehuda Green. Orthodox Jews do not use electronics on Shabbat or holidays, leaving live streamed options such as Zoom off the table.

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "Open Sans", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: start;">When was asked why in this year's Rosh Hashanah dinner at Talia's is different from all other years, the owner's son, Benjamin Nagar, relied: "Talia's has been blessed to have the opportunity to fulfill the well known saying of the Old Rebbe: "G‑d gives Gashmius (physical pleasures) and Ruchnius (spiritual pleasures) to Jews, and Jews turn the Gashmius into Ruchnius". We are so excited to have this opportunity of elevating and transforming the physical into spiritual. Davening outdoors on Amsterdam Avenue will be a real kiddush shem shamayim barabim and we are so looking forward to praying together b'achdut but with masks and with six feet social distancing."

<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "Open Sans", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; text-align: start;">Ordinarily, the festival of Rosh Hashanah is a traditional time for enjoying a meal out with the family. But as nobody needs reminding, this is no ordinary time. So while the reputation of Talia's Steakhouse remains second to none, its ambiance has changed for now, in keeping with the "new normal". This year, due to the pandemic, and in accordance with new guidelines from New York State and City, Talia's will be serving all meals al fresco during the holidays. Talia's beautiful outdoor café will be open from 4pm to 11pm. To preserve the spiritual experience of the holiday, no money will be exchanged.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; For over fourteen years, Talia’s Steakhouse & Bar has been serving a traditional, Glatt Kosher Passover Seder feast on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York, NY. As the premier kosher restaurant, we are proud to announce that, once again, we will conduct two prepaid Passover Seders with 2 seatings, each day of the Passover Seder, and serve kosher for Passover lunch and dinners during the holiday and during Chol Hamoed. Talia's will be open almost 24/7. Enjoy our complete kosher-for-Passover bar with all your favorite Martinis, Cosmos, Mojitos and more! This Jewish ritual feast with wines marks the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Passover. Indulge in a steak right off the grill while sipping vodka cranberry, apple or chocolate martinis, etc. – all Glatt kosher for Passover.

<div style="background-color: white; color: #666a73; font-family: "Benton Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Roboto, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; padding: 10px 0px 0px;">
Seder menu includes Haggadahs, Seder plate, Matzah, Sweet wine/grape juice for kiddush (additional wine list is available as priced per bottle). Main course may be substituted for Vegetarian platter with advance notice. Children’s menu is available (10 and under). Menu is NON-GEBROCHT.

<div style="background-color: white; color: #666a73; font-family: "Benton Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Roboto, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; padding: 10px 0px 0px;">
Two Sittings in Each day of the Seder: 5pm and 8Pm (flexible).

<div style="background-color: white; color: #666a73; font-family: "Benton Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Roboto, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; padding: 10px 0px 0px;">
5:00 PM Sitting is recommended for families with special health issues or young children.

<div style="background-color: white; color: #666a73; font-family: "Benton Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Roboto, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; padding: 10px 0px 0px;">
Price for each Seder is $130 per person, plus tax. For children under 10 years old, price is $95 plus tax.

<div style="background-color: white; color: #666a73; font-family: "Benton Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Roboto, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; padding: 10px 0px 0px;">
The Seder will be led by an orthodox Rabbi, Cantor or a Yeshiva Graduate. It will be read in Hebrew and portion of it may be translated to English. In the last 14 years, most seders were conducted by a Chabadnick from Chabad of the Upper West Side. However, you are more than welcome to conduct your own Seder at your own table, at your own pace.

<div style="background-color: white; color: #666a73; font-family: "Benton Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Roboto, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; padding: 10px 0px 0px;">
Since Jewish law forbids the distribution of money on Shabbat and Jewish holidays, gratuity is banned. Talia’s Steakhouse’s catering servers are fully compensated for such religious events and/or for all on and off-premises catering, banquets, special prix fixe functions and package deals. Prices charged are all inclusive and no part of the price is purported to be a gratuity. Only sales tax shall be added to the bill.

restaurant, Talia’s Steakhouse is subject to rabbinic supervision
and our kosher certificate provides us certain specific guidance as to how to
conduct prepaid Shabbat and holiday meals in accordance with strict Orthodox
Jewish laws. As a result, Talia’s requires its guests to prepay for the meals
prior to the time of the commencement of the Jewish holiday or Shabbat.
Moreover, the customer will have a copy of a prix fixe menu at his table upon
his arrival to the restaurant and he will have a selection of beef, chicken or
fish to choose from as an entree. A la carte menu is not permissible during
Shabbat and certain holidays, since you cannot start cooking during Shabbat.
All dishes are precooked. All Shabbat and holiday foods are cooked in deep pots
with lots of liquid and vegetables to keep them moist and fresh. On certain
holidays that do not fall on Shabbat, on-the-spot grilling is allowed. As
mentioned above, no walk-ins are allowed and no exchange of money takes place.

tourists visiting NYC are encouraged to attend our Glatt Kosher Shabbat and
holiday meals. Many affordable hotels are located within fifteen minutes
walking distance from Talia’s Steakhouse, so there is no need for
transportation during Shabbat or the Jewish holidays. For example, the Hotel
Newton and Days Inn are within four minutes walking time. Likewise, shuls, or
synagogues, as well as other Jewish organizations that offer services are

Chabad of the West Side and Columbia University have done for special events.
Other individuals and families have rented out the entire restaurant for
parties such as bar mitzvahs, aufrufs, sheva brachot, etc. Also,

It is a religious observance and according to the Talmud, "When Av begins, we diminish rejoicing" (Talmud, Taanit 26b). This year, 5774, or 2014, the dates from July 15th until August 5th - the three weeks prior to the fast day of Tisha B'Av, which falls on August 5th - are considered a period of mourning over the destruction of the Holy Temple. This year, Valentine's Day falls on the Sabbath, Friday, February 14, 2014. Before we will express our perspective toward Valentine's Day in general and toward Valentine's Day which falls on the Sabbath, in particular, lets review the following interesting facts.

Based on research conducted over the past 10 years, 21% of Americans regularly or occasionally purchases kosher products simply because they are kosher (i.e. kosher hot-dog). With respect to question why do Americans buy kosher? Only 8% responded: because they keep kosher at all time. http://www.lubicom.com/kosher/statistics

As to the question - what is the percentage of American Jews who keep kosher, it seems that there is neither a clear cut answer nor a strong and reliable, authoritative source. However, based upon several sources cited in Wikipedia under the Kashrut entry and an extensive 2000-1 survey conducted by United Jewish Communities (http://www.jewishfederations.org/local_includes/downloads/4983.pdf), one may draw a solid conclusion that about 15% of Jews in America observe the kosher laws. There is no doubt that the percentage of those who observe the sabbath and kosher laws are much less than 15%.

http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=680852

Therefore, Manhattan Kosher restaurants can safely predict a dramatic decrease in the number of customers who will go out to dine on Valentine's Day which falls on the Sabbath this year.

Though many may not be aware of its origins, Valentine's Day actually has its roots in Christianity. As such the appropriateness of Jews celebrating creates serious questions of Halakha (Jewish laws). Though in our time Valentine’s Day has, to a great degree, lost its religious symbolism, many Jewish religious authorities view its celebration as prohibited by Halakha. Because Valentine's Day falls this year on a Friday, Talia's Steakhouse would like to use the opportunity of Valentine's Day to remind patrons that our commitment to family, our friends and relationships stems from our commitment to G-d and to our Holy Torah. Our Rabbis tell us that Friday night is a special night, whereby our Jewish observance takes on a spiritually romantic role. Shabbat is referred to as a bride in our prayer service, for we welcome her with a beautifully set table, nice attire, and delicacies. As Jews governed by Torah Law we can use February 14th to make a powerful statement as to our perception of the role that spirituality plays in love and romance.

Join us at Talia's for a beautiful and sumptuous meal celebrating Shabbat, and our commitment to Judaism and the spiritual legacy that our forefathers bequeathed to us in accordance with the laws and customs of our People as handed down by Moshe our Teacher at Sinai.

During the last eleven years, Talia’s Steakhouse advertised Valentine’s Day as follows: “Turn Valentine’s Day into a Glatt kosher Jewish celebration of love and romance at Talia’s Steakhouse & Bar." Many customers and several blogs were questioning the issue of whether or not a Glatt Kosher Manhattan restaurant should celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Is Talia’s going to use the same original advertised title of “Turn Valentine’s Day into a Glatt Kosher Celebration”? The answer to this question is “No.”

When we advertised in the past, the idea was to turn the non-holy (St. Valentine) into holy, i.e., Glatt Kosher dinner filled with brachot, such as netilat yadaim, birkat hamazon, etc.

Since this year, Valentine’s coincides with Shabbat, the holiest day of the week, there is no point of turning something unholy into holy, since the day is already holy.
